THE INNOVATION ADVISORY BOARD
The IAB is a group of like-minded and out-of-the box thinking physicians who come from relatively diverse backgrounds of practice in specific specialties. The Foot & Ankle specialty is the initial IAB, and members have a significant level of collective experience in new product innovation and development. They collaborate with each other in further development of future technologies, assist other medical professionals in the evaluation and protection of their own ideas in an unbiased, cost-effective manner, and evaluate new technologies that are presented to the Board.
Roles of the IAB
Clinical assessment/input/initial screening of innovations
Concept or innovation generation (at discounted fees)
Marketing/halo effect of participation in order to attract other innovators, partners, and investors
CoG (concept generations) consulting/quality assurance
Potential funding of innovations
First-users of an innovation
Educational support
Input regarding strategic direction of InMotus
Types of Technology Reviewed by the IAB
Ideas that come from fellow IAB members (internal idea development)
Concepts or ideas that are initiated from a community surgeon/colleague
New product assessment (from outside company or an overseas distributor looking to expand to the US market)
